Early in the morning of November 14, 2012, the resort island of Green Island, Australia fell
dark as moon’s umbral shadow drifted across its spectacular scenery. Thousands of excited sky
watchers and photographers from around the world gathered to experience this remakrable
celetial event. This unique image was created from 8 separate images shot as a 360-degree
panorama and then wrapped around itself to produce the first-ever “little planet” view of a
total solar eclipse. Above the eclipse shines the planet Venus; on the other side of the
scene–behind the trees–appears the bright star Sirius. © Dennis Mammana/dennismammana.com
